In 2010, after a stroke, forced retirement, and home-bound situation, I started watching and listening to new live streaming online shiurim. The shiurim started with a weekly Rabbi Y.Y. Jacobson chidush on the Parsha shiur. It soon blossomed into the website, TheYeshiva.Net, overseen by Rabbi Jacobson. Soon the shiurim went from just a once a week shiur to shiurim given every weekday,
From just Rabbi Jacobson to the inclusion of Chassidus shiurim given by Rabbi Yossi Paltiel, Sichos Shiurim by Rabbi Levi Galelik, and a combination of others in most aspects of Torah, Talmud, Halacha,Yom Tovim, etc.
I always liked to share with others things that I like myself, like my matted nature prints. I appreciated these online shiurim so much, and because of my computer literacy and commodity of time, not having to run off to work away from home, it was natural for me to use the audio CD technology to share the gems of Torah that I was experiencing.
In 2010 I rarely could make it to Shul, but I started burning audio CDs and giving them to Anash whenever I did make it to Tzemach Tzedek. I started with about 10 CDs per week and the feedback was tremendously positive. My “customers” welcomed this new ability to easily listen to shiurim while in their cars instead of having to listen to radio.
To the Monsey Anash’s compliment and praise, the 10 per week quickly grew to 50 per week.
During the Shiva for my mother, Dubba bas Avrohom Yitzchok, my oldest grand-daughter, Oshrat, gave me the idea of dedicating this CD shiurim endeavor in my mother’s honor and zechus. My father, Areyeh Leib ben Avrohom, passed away just weeks after my stroke. I was so out of it, I hardly remember shiva and know that I did not even make it to Shul once to say Kaddish. With my mother’s death, I developed a connection to my father’s death, the emotional trauma, that I missed in 2003. It therefore made sense to dedicate the already established project of sharing the TheYeshiva.Net shiurim in the zechus of both of my parents.
I started keeping track of my blank CD purchases. I now buy 1,000 at a time in order to get the absolute least expensive price.
To the Monsey Anash’s compliment and praise, the 10 per week has grown steadily to about 100 per week now, especially with the advances of the offerings online, which now include live farbrengens and shiurim that span multiple weeks, often necessitating double CDs per shiur.
This amazing increase in the Monsey Anash’s Torah learning, approximately 100 hours instead of radio listening, called to my mind Moshiach’s promise to the Baal Shem Tov’s question of “when are you coming” and Moshiach’s answer, “when your Torah is spread far and wide”. Look how our Monsey Anash are clamoring and appreciating the Baal Shem Tov’s Torah disseminated through TheYeshiva.Net and this Audio CD shiurim project.
With my mother’s first yahrtzeit on January 5, 2015 / 14th Teves 5775, in her honor, I will be creating a used CD receptacle, a CD index by shiur Rabbi, that will be placed in Tzemach Tzedek at a convenient location, allowing Anash to return CDs if they wish, so that anyone can help themselves to this supply.
It is my pleasure and honor to have fallen into this uforatzta project. I welcome emails or phone calls requesting any shiur, farbrengen or series. Please don’t hesitate and deny me and my parents from this zechus. With the constantly improving technology, I am using this 1st yarhrtzeit occasion to upgrade the shiurim sharing project. If Anash would prefer, I will share the mp3 audio files via Google drive, sending an email to the shiurim normally burned on CDs, so that users can easily download the files to the own devices, allowing them to still listen to the shiurim in their cars as well as listen to them anywhere and anytime. To accomplish this, please send me an email to email@example.com requesting the mp3 file shares.
Also please help yourselves to the existing used Audio Shiurim in the new CD box in Tzemach Tzedek.
Thank you! May we all be listening to the Torah of Moshiach live in Yerushalayim in the immediate future!
