Cheder Chabad Raffle - Win $10,000

Cheder Chabad has joined a group of other Chabad Moisdos for a $10,000 raffle plus other great prizes.

Ticket sales has been opened up to the our local Chabad community for a discounted price of $100 per ticket. The odds of winning are great as there are only 2000 tickets to be sold. The draw is this Sunday, July 27, and tickets can be purchased until  at 12:00 noon that Sunday.

All proceeds from these ticket sales go to Cheder Chabad of Monsey.

Now, during the Three Weeks and particularly with the situation in Eretz Yisroel, the Rebbe constantly emphasized the value and importance of Tzedaka, especially to an institution of Torah and where Torah is taught to children.

Please contact Rabbi Yisroel Shusterman at 917-282-3505 or to purchase your tickets.

Time  is short and only a handful of tickets are left!

Thruway Repaving in Rockland Gets Underway

By Khurram Saeed, The Journal News

One or two lanes on the Thruway will be closed nightly as paving work begins on the southbound Thruway in Rockland, starting Tuesday.

The two-month project will cover a 10-mile stretch between Exit 16 in Orange County and Exit 14B in Ramapo, the state Thruway Authority said.

Aside from paving, the $28.8 million project will include drainage improvements in flood-prone areas, safety upgrades and bridge repairs.

Lane closures will begin at 8 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays and at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Thruway Authority said no lane closures will take place before 7 p.m. when work shifts to the northbound lanes.

All lanes will be re-opened no later than 6 a.m.

In May, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said it would give New York $3.8 million to raise four sections of the Thruway between exits 15 and 16 that were underwater last year when the Ramapo River flooded.

The roadway will be raised 1.7 feet at two locations and 2.5 feet at the other two.

ECCO III Enterprises, the project contractor, may postpone the work in case of bad weather.

Electronic signs and Highway Advisory Radio 530 AM will carry information about the lane closures.

Rockland drivers using the Palisades Interstate Parkway should also be aware that a major paving project on the New Jersey portion is also underway.

Letters in a Sefer Torah for Israeli Soldiers

On the second night of Chanuka in the year 5742 the Rebbe spoke about how important it is that the soldiers of צה״ל should each have a letter in the Sefer Torah Haklali.

The Rebbe explained that this places a fear upon the enemy who faces the soldier, because he sees in each soldier how he is coming with 304,805 soldiers (there are 304,805 letters in a sefer Torah). The Rebbe also spoke about the great זכות of those who sign up soldiers in the sefer Torah Haklali.

Everybody's asked to do whatever they can to reach as many soldiers as possible. Letters can be purchased at
