Cheder Chabad Closed Monday

Due to the pending weather conditions, all divisions of Cheder Chabad of Monsey will be closed on Monday, October 29.

Town of Ramapo Hurricane Sandy Update 2

Hurricane Sandy is expected to have an unprecedented impact on the Town of Ramapo starting Sunday, October 28, and continuing for possibly 3 to 4 days thereafter.

The brunt of the storm is expected to be from 6am Monday to 6pm Tuesday. Our area could experience sustained winds of 40-60mph for 24-36 hours; with wind gusts of up to 80mph.

Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services will only respond to emergencies during this event. Please refrain from calling for non-emergencies during this time.

Orange & Rockland will not be able to perform repairs until the wind falls below 40mph - which may not be until Wednesday, October 31. Residents could be without power for 4-7 days.

We advise our residents to stay home and hunker down.

Town of Ramapo Hurricane Sandy Update 1

The National Weather Service is predicting that our area will be impacted by the storm starting late Sunday afternoon.  The height of the storm is expected from Monday into Tuesday, with effects lingering into late Wednesday.   Rain will be heavy, with a northeast wind 23 to 29 mph, and gusts as high as 43 mph.

We expect flooding, fallen trees, and downed wires.  Please stay indoors if possible.

Power Outages:
All power outages must be reported. To report an outage, downed wire, or other electric service emergency, please call Orange & Rockland's 24-hour toll free customer service number 1-877-434-4100 or go to www.oru.com/trouble.

Emergencies:
We would like to remind our residents to call 911 only for police, fire or medical emergencies.  Please call the Ramapo Police Department at 845-357-2400 for non-emergencies.

The Town of Ramapo Highway Department can be reached at 845-357-0903.

Sandbags:
Sandbags are available for Town of Ramapo residents at the Ramapo Highway Department, 26 Pioneer Avenue, today, Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 12 noon.  Supplies are Limited.
