8th Day Rocks Rockland

This past Thursday night, the third night of Chanukah, a sold out crowd of more than 500 people enjoyed a beautiful and inspiring concert at Rockland Community College to benefit the work of Rabbi Dov and Shevi Oliver of the Hillel Center for Jewish Life at RCC.

The evening began with the lighting of the menorah by Chazan Rabbi Naftali Marrus followed by a Chanukah medley sang by the Shiru Lo Boys choir under the directorship of Rabbi Chaim Block of Shalsheles fame.

The audience then got warmed up with the new and upcoming Jewish folk rock singer Moshe Hecht fresh off the release of his brand new album, Heart is Alive.

Rabbi Oliver, who served as the MC, then introduced the much anticipated 8th Day band who put on an amazing performance.

Boys Minyan Goes on Bowling Trip

This past Friday, the 3rd day of Chanukah, 27 boys who steadily participated in the monseyouth Kol HaN’orim Shabbos morning minyan  in Tzemach Tzedek went on a grand bowling trip.

The boys all came to Tzemach Tzedek to daven at 8:00 AM. After a lebidege davening they ate breakfast and learned about the day כז כסלו which was the 2nd time the Alter Rebbe was freed from prison. After breakfast the boys watched the Living Torah video of the week and then loaded onto a bus to go bowling.

On the way back all the boys received special Chanukah gelt - a two dollar bill from monseyouth. To end the day each of the mispalillim were invited to make a mezonos on a delicious doughnut.

The Kol HaN’orim minyan will I"YH resume for פרשת ויחי. A big Yashor Koach to all those who sponsored the minyan so far!
