Pre Shavuos Shiur by Rabbi Avraham Sutton

Rabbi Avraham Sutton of Yerushalayim will be giving an inspiring shiur on the topic of "Preparing to Really Receive the Torah on Shavuos" for men and women (separate seating) this Thursday night, May 13, at 8:00 PM at the home of Ilya and Bracha Meshchaninov 32 N. South Gate Drive. Suggested donation $10.

“Every year a dramatic shift occurs during the final 17 days of the Omer. It begins on LaG B'Omer and provides an incredible opportunity to receive the Torah in a deeper way than ever before. Let us learn more about this shift in spiritual potential and taste how we can tap into it. Let us learn together how to take advantage of it in our individual lives. Let us learn how to understand it on the level of the Collective Drama of the Souls, as all of creation accelerates toward "The Shavuos of History.”

For over 30 years, R. Avraham Sutton has been learning and teaching Torah, kabbalah, talmud, midrash, chassidus, prayer, meditation, and sacred song. He has translated, edited, and/or authored over 20 major works in English on the deeper significance of Torah for our age. His editing projects include Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan’s Innerspace and Rabbi Chaim Kramer’s Anatomy of the Soul. His own books include a groundbreaking translation of the Siddur, as well as extensive writings on all the holidays. A profound understanding of meta-history (history from Hashem's point of view) permeates all his work.

Having studied with some of the great teachers of Jerusalem, R' Avraham is solidly grounded in the tradition of the great masters (Gemara, Midrash, Zohar, the Ari, the Baal Shem Tov, the Ramchal, the Gra, Rebbi Nachman of Breslov, the Ben Ish Chai, the Leshem, etc.). He is an “insider” of Torah. He helps us go “behind the scenes” and unfolds a breathtaking prophetic vision of the future direction of our people, our planet, of mankind -- of everything. R' Avraham emphasizes that the changes we are looking forward to are not going to happen “out there” on the outer stage of history until they happen “inside” each and every one of us. He teaches the importance of inner work, developing a greater awareness of G-d in our lives, of knowing who we are, and why we (our souls) have been born at this momentous time.
