A diverse crowd of 80 students, faculty and community members participated in a Tu B’Shevat Seder at SUNY Rockland, conducted by Rabbi Naftoli Citron of the Carlebach Shul in Manhattan and hosted by the Center for Jewish Life/Hillel.
Participants learned the significance of Tu B'Shvat, exploring deep kabbalistic concepts in light of contemporary issues such as environmental awareness and our connection to Israel. As the seder progressed through the four spiritual levels of Assiyah, Yetzirah, Briyah and Atzilut, participants made the brachos on fruits of Israel and grape juice, and shared their personal mitzvah resolutions.
