Over one hundred students and faculty attended the celebration, grabbing a bite in the Sukkah, learning about the meaning of Sukkos and shaking Lulav and Esrog, many for the first time in their life.

The gathering was graced by the popular Moshe Hecht Band whose unique style and meaningful interactions with the crowd kept everyone entertained and begging for more.

Hundreds at Monsey Chabad Simchas Beis Hashoeiva

Hundreds of men, women and children, representing the greater Monsey community, joined Monsey Anash for a grand Simchas Beis Hashoeiva at Tzemach Tzedek Lubavitch of Monsey last night, the third night of Chol HaMoed.

The event began with a children’s program, led by Rabbi Yisroel Goldberg, which included an exciting show by master juggler and fire-eater Keith Leaf.

Following the children’s show the large crowd danced until after midnight to the music of a lively four-piece band.

Videos of the Rebbe were shown throughout the evening and were watched by many. Refreshments were served in the large Tzemach Tzedek sukkah.

Thanks to the amazing band: Sruli Weinstein (guitar), Yanky Goldenthal (keyboard and singing), Avi Bernstein (drums) and Shlomi Cohen (saxophone)! Thanks to the officers of the Ramapo Police Department for their assistance with the traffic and parking.

New High-Tech Voter Machines Debut in Rockland

New optical scanning voting machines were introduced today in Rockland County. The DS200 Optical Ballot Scanner was used by voters today at 100 polling places around Rockland.

The new machines were made by the Omaha-based Election Systems and Software, known as ES&S.

The county owns 135 of the new machines because some polling places have more than one and because the Board of Elections has standby units.

The new electronic machines replace the long-used lever machines, which were used for the final time during last month's special election on baseball stadium funding in Ramapo.

The following is a video demonstrating how to use the new machines:

R' Dov Oliver Blows Shofar at RCC 9-11 Ceremony

By Jane Lerner, Rockland Journal News

RAMAPO — Students who were in elementary school during the Sept. 11 terrorists attacks took part in a solemn ceremony this morning at Rockland Community College to remember the lives lost that terrible day.

"We have a responsibility to remember Sept. 11 and a responsibility to help our students understand and remember what happened that day," college President Cliff Wood said.

He addressed a small gathering of students, faculty and community members who sat in silence as an instrumental melody was played in honor of the victims.

Wood noted that this year's anniversary of the attacks fell during the period of reflection during the Jewish New Year.

He called on campus Rabbi Dov Oliver to blow the ram's horn to signify the desire for greater peace and understanding between people.

"This reminds each of us to create a better world," Wood said.

Student leaders then read the names of 80 people who either lived in Rockland or had strong ties to the county and were killed at the World Trade Center.

The names included at least two alumni of the college.

Message from Yossi Touger Regarding Kaparos

This year, as in previous years, I had arranged for the delivery of chickens well in advance to ensure an organized event.

Unfortunately, due to a general shortage of chickens in the Monsey area, our supplier only delivered a small fraction of our order without giving any advance notice.

Although this was completely out of our control, we are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused to members of our community.

If you have any questions or suggestion please feel free to contact me at 845-426-0487.

We look forward to serving you in the future!

Thank you for understanding and best wishes for a Gmar Chasima Tova.
