Good Sam Changes Visitor Policy for New Moms

New mothers at Good Samaritan Hospital are getting a gift most know they won't get again once they return home: a little peace and quiet.

Under a new policy that just went into effect at the hospital, no one except their husband or significant other is allowed to visit them on the maternity ward between 1and 3 p.m. every day.

The hospital instituted the policy after hearing many maternity patients tell them that that they were leaving the hospital exhausted after giving birth.

Friends and family are still welcome to visit any other time between 11 a.m. and 9:30p.m.

Commuter Bus Fares Rising

Two bus companies that transport Rockland commuters to New York City will raise fares June 1.

Rockland Coaches will increase those fares 5 percent. In addition, all local fares with Rockland and rides between Rockland and Bergen County, N.J., will go up 5 cents a ride.

Commuters who use Monsey Trails to get to Manhattan or Brooklyn will also have to pay more. The 40-trip booklet will increase to $300 from $240, a 25 percent increase.

Both companies cited high diesel fuel prices for the increase.

Coach USA, the parent company of Rockland Coaches, hiked fares 4 percent May 6 on its Midtown Express service. A 40-trip book costs $250, up from $240.
